“Practice yourself, for heaven’s sake, in little things; and thence proceed to greater.” ~Epictetus
How many of us tell ourselves, that this will be our year?
How many of us tell ourselves that every year?
We come up with grandiose plans, yet never follow through. Know why that is? Because we don’t have the basics down. We don’t allow ourselves the patience required to build habits, or to work on the small stuff.
When you’re in school, do they teach you trigonometry in kindergarten? NO! They teach you your numbers. The same thing applies with life. You have to learn your numbers before you can do the math.
Start small, but don’t remain small. You can have a BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) but that’s not where you’re going to start.
Slow down. Figure out the basics. Then steadily progress. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. And you won’t reach the finish line until you know how to run.
